5 Technology Trends You Need to Know to Work in Any Industry

If you’ve been following the news on exciting tech trends like artificial intelligence, then you’re probably aware that emerging technologies are changing the way we work and interact with others. In fact, with things like machine learning and touch commerce becoming increasingly popular across every industry from banking to healthcare, technology is revolutionizing the way we do business and making high-tech approaches an integral part of our lives. We recently sat down with the team at Deloitte to find out how these trends are reshaping the career space.

Here are the top five technology trends you need to know to work in any industry.

. Internet of Things (IOT)

One of the biggest tech trends to emerge in recent years is the Internet of Things. Simply put, the Internet of Things (abbreviated IOT) is the idea that all technological devices can be connected to the internet and to each other in an attempt to create the perfect marriage between the physical and digital worlds. How will this impact you? It depends on your industry. For example, for those who work in marketing, advertising, media or business management, IOT could provide a wealth of information on how consumers engage with products by tracking their interactions with digital devices. In turn, this data could be used to optimize marketing campaigns and user experiences.

How it’s affecting industries: The really cool thing about IOT is that it’s not only changing the way we do business but also the business models we use to do it. For example, according to Deloitte, flexible consumption models (also known as pay-per-use models) are going become increasingly more popular across all industries as new customer data becomes available.

2. Machine learning

Another exciting emerging technology is machine learning, which is essentially a computer’s ability to learn on its own by analyzing data and tracking repeating patterns. For example, social media platforms use machine learning to get a better understanding of how you’re connected with those in your social network. They do this by analyzing your likes, shares and comments and then prioritizing content from your closest connections, serving you that content first.

How it’s affecting industries: In addition to shaping your day-to-day interactions with friends on social media, machine learning is also changing the way companies do business with customers. According to Deloitte, companies like Google are using machine learning on mobile devices which can continue learning even when offline. The result? Machine learning is reshaping the way businesses interact with their customers in a big way by helping them anticipate and meet customer needs more easily.

3. Virtual reality (VR)

Remember watching movies about virtual reality and thinking how cool it would be if it was actually like that in real life? Well, it’s about to be. Although VR has been around since the 1950s, until recently the technology wasn’t able to deliver the fully immersive digital experience users have been craving. That’s about to change with recent improvements to both hardware and programming, and the effects are going to be felt across almost every industry from retail to education.

How it’s affecting industries: Virtual reality has been a popular component of video games for several years and this trend is continuing to expand. In addition to video games, VR is likely to affect companies across the board as they adopt the technology to help them engage customers more effectively and optimize their sales and marketing efforts. It’s also a potentially useful tool for learning and is increasingly being adopted by educational organizations.

4. Touch commerce

Being able to buy anything you want with the touch of a finger may have seemed like a fantasy a few years ago, but it’s now a reality. Merging touchscreen technology with one-click shopping, touch commerce allows consumers to buy products easily from their phones. After linking their payment information to a general account and enabling the feature, customers are able to buy everything from clothes to furniture with just a fingerprint.

How it’s affecting industries: According to Deloitte, this is one of the biggest things to hit eCommerce in recent years with purchases of this type expected to increase by 150% this year alone and retailers in almost every industry anticipating an increase in sales directly related to this new technology.

5. Cognitive Technology

Cognitive technology is in the same vein as machine learning and virtual reality except that it’s a broader concept. For example, the cognitive technology umbrella includes things like natural language processing (NLP) and speech recognition. Combined, these different technologies are able to automate and optimize a lot of tasks that were previously done by people, including certain aspects of accounting and analytics.

How it’s affecting industries: Although cognitive technologies have a broad range of applications, Deloitte predicts that the industry sector most affected by this trend initially will be the software sector with 95% of enterprise software companies projected to adopt these technologies by 2020.

With emerging technologies changing professional industries including banking, eCommerce, healthcare and education, staying up to date on the latest trends will give you a better understanding of your chosen industry and make you a more competitive candidate. Best of all, this knowledge might open up new doors within your field and others.

Among the common users, the technology of beacons becomes more widespread. More applications with beacon-based features will be created for users, and – starting from informational sources, virtual guides and ending with location-based games and much more. However, it is unlikely that users expect a technical revolution in this direction. Beacons continue to expand in use cases covering more and more areas where a person could get all the necessary information in the right place without having an Internet connection.

3) Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence seems to be a game changer in mobile app development. Apple allowed developers to integrate Siri into their applications only in 2017. 7) Cloud Based App Development

Now-a-days number of mobile app development companies are using Cloud-based app development. So they have better streamlined operation, collaboration and increased productivity. These type of mobile apps reduce the load on the internal memory by fetching the data from cloud and therefore this can prove beneficial for app developers and business owners.

>Tools > Account Settings…

E-mail Accounts

Click the ‘New‘ button under the ‘Email‘ tab.

Auto Account Setup

Check the box at the bottom for ‘Manually configure server settings or additional server types‘.

Note: at this point, depending on whether the user has setup a previous account in Outlook, the next couple screens may very in order but they are nearly identical, just confirm with the user which menu they are viewing.

They will see either the ‘Choose Email Service‘ (POP, IMAP, HTTP) or the user’s settings window with ‘Manually configure server settings or additional server types‘.

The key point is that they check the box to ‘Manually configure server settings or additional server types‘ and select the type of email service for the account (POP/IMAP).

Choose E-mail Service

Choose the E-mail Service: Put a dot in ‘Internet Email’ (or in ‘Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP‘ depending on the screen user is viewing).

Make sure that your settings look like the settings shown in this screenshot.

The following are the most important:

  • Your Name: Your Name (eg. John Smith)
  • E-mail Address: email@domain.tld (eg. john@test.com
  • Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.domain.tld (eg. mail.test.com)
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.domain.tld (eg. mail.test.com)
  • User Name: email.domain.tld (eg. john.test.com NOT john@test.com)

CANNOT SEND EMAIL?

If you can receive email however you cannot send email and the settings are exactly as shown above, change your outgoing mail (SMTP) port from the default of 25 to 1025.

To do this:

Click on the ‘Edit’ menu > ‘Preferences…’ > ‘Mail Servers’ sub-category on the left.

Change the ‘Outgoing mail (SMTP) server’ from ‘Replace with: mail.your_website_address.com‘ to ‘Replace with: mail.your_website_address.com:1025′.

Background Reasoning:

In order to combat spam, some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) block traffic to external servers on port 25 so that customers using that ISP can only use the ISP’s mail server. If that customer is going to spam, the idea is that they must use the ISP’s mail server to spam and therefore be caught very quickly, and handled accordingly. Realizing that many ISP’s mail servers have a more restrictive options (ie. not being able to send to more than 100 people at a time) as they are usually residential mail servers, we have opened an alternative port to allow you to send mail using our mail servers, one that the ISPs do not block. That port is SMTP port 1025.

What WooCart is and how it’s going to address WooCommerce’s disadvantages

What WooCart is and how it’s going to address WooCommerce’s disadvantages

WooCart is “WooCommerce as a Platform”. Think of it as a hosted WooCommerce solution. But we won’t just host your store. We’ll do a lot more, making WooCommerce easier to use, simpler to run, faster to visit, and more secure to host.

WooCart is Easy

We’ll start with the most painful element for all new users: setup. WooCart will offer a 1-click country setup. This means we’ll set up your store with the local taxes and shipping methods configured and with the local legal content provided (privacy policy, refund policy, shipping pages etc.). With one click, WooCart will save you hours of research and frustration.

We’ll feature the most popular themes and plugins that have been tested on the WooCart platform so you’ll know they’re stable and working well. No more outdated and broken plugins and themes.

With each WooCart store, you will also receive preconfigured IMAP mailbox that you’ll be able to use in a web client or in your preferred desktop client.

WooCart is Fast

Page speed is one of the most important elements of an online store. If it doesn’t load fast, conversion rates suffer. But performance optimization is really hard to do when you don’t know how things work under the hood. So we’ll make sure your store is super optimized right out of the box. We’ll also give you information on what’s making it slow so that you can remove plugins that drag the store down.

When visitors search for products, they need to see the results in a second. Default search is sub-optimal so we’ll integrate Algolia for lightning-fast search results which are proven to increase conversions.

We’ll do automatic scaling of resources. There is nothing worse than seeing your ad campaign go viral only to have your host shut down the site.

WooCart is Safe

SSL (HTTPS in the address) is a must for stores. But if you’re new to online selling, setting it up is not easy. So we’ll automatically install and setup free SSL from Let’s Encrypt.

Because you never know what can go wrong, we’ll also do daily backups.

Staging stores. Staging is becoming more popular with a lot of hosts but WooCart will offer staging specifically for WooCommerce stores. This way you can test everything before publishing on the live store without fearing that an update will break your site.

Security setup. No more testing and installing a bunch of different security plugins. Having a platform with thousands of sites hosted will help us block malicious attacks a lot faster and easier than a single plugin on a regular host. You will sleep easier knowing that your site is safe from attacks.

  1. No vendor lock-in! WooCart will still run and host WooCommerce that millions of people use and like for the flexibility, low cost, and customizations. If you don’t like what WooCart offers, you can just download the files and move to a regular host.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, AND NATURE

Those who don’t know mathematics it is tough to get through a real feeling as to the prettiness. Then it is difficult to feel the inherent beauty of nature. So if you want to know about nature and want to appreciate it, it is essential to understand the language that nature speaks.

When we learn more about nature, it becomes gradually evident that an accurate statement about nature is essentially mathematical. Everything else is a guess. So mathematics is an exact science. This is because nature is mathematical; any science that aims to explain nature is totally dependent on mathematics.  It is no possible to exaggerate this point.

Nature is distinctively mathematical, and nature speaks to us in mathematics. We just have to listen. Also, it is said that ‘mathematics is science without limit’ and that ‘mathematics is the language we write science’. So here are any examples on this point who has written an equation that is Paul Dirac and the live example is Jacob Barnett.

Mathematics is a language for conveying relations. Science tries to find the invariant relationships in nature. Any knowledge is about relationships. Any living creature is in relation to a nature by way of its body. The configuration of this relation is fixed in the sense-acting system of the living creature displaying as a mirror nature from a particular viewpoint.

The basic of mathematics and science is inherent and it is why we could afterward rediscover this by creating science and mathematics.  The relations between mathematics, science, and nature provide very rich abundant ground for good questions and thoughts.

Nature is the world or universe as it occurs. Science is the process of analysis the world, to know how it works. Mathematics is the language we use to convey the value of many measurements such as quantity, time, length, energy, and much more. Also, it is used to compare the interactions or happenings we observe.

Mathematics is one of the essential tools used by science or physical science to reveal the workings of nature. Those are mostly out of straight sight of the unassisted senses. Also, physical science is the best method formulated to understand how the world works. But this science does have limitations.

So there are many assumptions about the relationships between mathematics, science, and nature. But there is one example of it. Jacob Barnett is the perfect example of this relationship. As we know Jacob is the young boy with autism. But he is the genius as he has explained about the math and science. So he is a boy with exceptional qualities and abilities. In a way, he has described these topic or theories that are phenomenal.

Jacob Barnett is largely considered to be math and science prodigy. He started taking college courses at the very young age of 8. What is really amazing about Jacob Barnett’s story is its fateful beginning. He was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2. So many people doubted that he would still do things like talk or tie his own shoes. But then he started speaking shortly even before he went to third grade in the school. And in this way after gradual progress, he has learned everything.

Today Jacob Barnett is the well-known personality. At the very young he has achieved so much. He has tremendous talent that he is compared to Albert Einstein or many think he is genius like him. So in spite of autism Jacob has proved it that if you have talent then with so many hurdles in between you can achieve anything.

In this way, by different ways, the mathematics, science, and nature are related to each other. This is proven phenomenon.

10 Reasons Why Your Small Business Needs a Website

Unless you’re a small business owner who is not interested in growing your brand, you need to have a website.

These days building a business website or ecommerce store is easier than ever: it doesn’t cost much money, you don’t have to know how to code or design, your online store is not restricted to business hours, and it’s one of the best means of free advertising.

Having a small business website isn’t just about selling your goods and services — it’s also about providing something of value to potential customers.

With so many low priced online services, there’s really no excuse to keep putting it off.

Still not sure how having a website will help you grow your business?

Here are ten reasons every business needs a website:

1. Your customers expect it.

If this were the only reason on the list, it would be enough. Six out of ten consumers expect brands to provide online content about their business on some form of digital property, and more than half head straight to the brand’s website for product information.

If you don’t have a business website, today’s digital-savvy (and impatient) customers may look elsewhere. Take a look at this list of specifics that customers say they wantfrom a business website.

2. It provides social proof.

Ninety percent of consumers claim that online reviews influence their buying decisions.

You could rely on FourSquare, Yelp, and other review sites to host reviews for your brand, but you can kill two birds with one stone on your own website.

Since potential buyers are already looking for you online, including customer testimonials on your site is a great way to impress potential buyers.

3. You control the narrative.

It’s true that you cannot control what others say about you on social media channels, but you can influence public perception by creating your own story via a business website.

A company blog helps business owners get their message, mission, and personality in front of their target audience faster than print ads or snail mail brochures.

Plus, social icons linking to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other networking platforms make sharing your content easier for your visitors who like what they see.

4. More bang for your buck.

When you use a free website-building tool, like WordPress.com, you position your company to reach thousands more potential customers for less than you would spend mailing ten brochures by traditional mail.

5. You don’t need extensive coding or technical skills.

Because WordPress — and a number of other website-building platforms — offer online tutorials and community-based support, almost anyone can get a basic website up and running in about thirty minutes.

6. Your competitors all have company websites.

Consumers typically start their buying journey with research and recommendations from peers and social network connections.

Studies show that once a consumer has an idea of what they need or want, they start researching, and 72 percent of them go online to find educational material, reviews, and testimonials, according to a recent report.

So if you’re not staying competitive with your competition, you’re giving shoppers a reason to buy from another brand.

7. Never put up the ‘closed for business’ sign again.

Nobody wants to work at 3 a.m., but some people like to shop then. Having a business website or ecommerce store means that you can sell products all the time — not simply between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

An online store can mean a dramatic boost in sales, especially when you factor in additional customers who are not restricted by geography. Your online presence also supports marketing campaigns, customer service, client relationship building, brand recognition, and almost every other element of the revenue stream.

Combining your website with marketing tools, like email marketing, helps you reach new customers and generate repeat business.

8. You’ll show up in Google search results.

Consider this: 81 percent of consumers perform online research before making a purchase. That means they go to Google and type in one or more keywords, like “best leather shoes” or, if they know what they want, “handcrafted Italian leather women’s shoes in Los Angeles.”

If you don’t have a website for your business, the chances of showing up on the search engine results page (SERP) are zero. But if you have a site, you can optimize it for search engines, thereby increasing your chances of appearing at the top of Google’s results and getting more visibility with potential customers.

Long-tail keywords, meta descriptions, and titles are just some of the things you can customize on your site to improve your search engine optimization (SEO).

9. Create a resource center for your staff.

In addition to helping customers, your business website can also benefit your own employees.

Create an orphan page (one that is not visible anywhere on the site so it can’t be found unless someone is given the direct link) with self-service videos, instructional materials, or even internal forms to help your team learn everything they need to know on their own schedules.

10. Showcase your products and services.

Not only can you display your products or outline your services in detail with beautiful images, but you can provide short video tutorials or downloadable PDF instructions to give hesitant customers no reason to go elsewhere to purchase.

Pinterest is Growing Faster than Twitter and Snapchat, and Offers Significant Opportunities

Pinterest may not be growing at the rate the company had once anticipated, but the platform is expanding, with new data showing that the app is now closing in on 250 million monthly active users, up from the 200 million it reported back in September.

That growth rate means the platform’s gaining momentum – it took Pinterest 6 months to go from 150m to 175m users, and 5 months to reach their next milestone of 200m users. Adding another 50 million since September means the platform is now gaining 25m new users every four months, on average – so again, a marginally faster growth rate.

For comparison, over the last year, Twitter has added 9 million MAU, while Snapchat has added 25m (though important to note Snap’s are daily active users – they don’t publish MAU stats)

Of course, Pinterest’s 250m total is still well behind Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, but the growth rate is relevant to note, particularly given the platform’s evolving focus on eCommerce, shifting away from being a social network, as such.

Targeting shopping opportunities has lead to Pinterest becoming a better platform for driving purchase intent – according to Pinterest’s data, 90% of weekly Pinners use the app to make purchase decisions, while 78% of Pinners say content from brands on the platform is helpful.

Such findings are also backed up by comparative data – check out this slide from one of the recent Mary Meeker Internet Trends reports.

Instagram, through its slow roll-out of Shopping Tags and (potentially) in-stream payments, will likely become more of a challenger on this front. But still, there’s clearly a lot of opportunity in Pinterest, which many brands are likely overlooking.

Though even with these stats, the platform isn’t growing as fast as they had projected. Back in 2015, TechCrunch obtained documents which showed that Pinterest had been targeting 329 million MAU, and $2.8 billion in revenue by the end of 2018. The app’s not quite at that level – the user growth target is not wildly off, while Pinterest reportedly brought in $473 million in revenue in 2017. That still represents 58% revenue growth, year-over-year, but it does seem that Pinterest’s targets were more ambitious, as opposed to aggressive, a few years back.

But still, the opportunities are rising in the app, and there are now more ways than ever for advertisers to use the platform to reach an expanding, shopping-focused, audience, including search and video ads, quick promotion tools, ‘Shop the Look’ ads and more.

Pinterest will also continue to develop its innovative Lens tool, with more than 600 million visual searches now conducted in the app each month.

The next phase of Lens could include AR tools, which enable users to digitally place items within their homes, providing more context for potential purchases.

The platform’s not as big as Facebook, you’re not going to get as much reach on Pinterest. But you might just generate more sales by getting your products in front of a highly targeted, spend-ready audience.

If you’ve not considered it before, maybe these latest figures will have you re-thinking where Pinterest might fit into your digital marketing strategy.
